Which Cheer Shoes Should I get?

We frequently get asked questions about the cheer shoes we sell, especially by Mums buying for their daughters, so we thought we’d write this blog to help mum’s choose the appropriate cheer trainers.

 Shoes for cheerleaders

What are the Best Cheer Shoes?

Well, really there is no “best”, which shoe you decide to buy depends on a number of factors, the main one being what level has your daughter achieved? Have they just started cheerleading or have they been training for a year or more and can now do some of the routines, exercises and stunts and have moved up a level or two? You need the right shoe for the level of cheerleading!

Our shoes breakdown into the following levels of Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.

Beginner Cheer shoes: Cheerful or  Tumble

Intermediate Cheer shoes:  Zenith, Stellarlyte and Vengeance

            Advanced Cheer Shoes (Flyer)   Vengeance

What makes Cheer Shoes Different?

Like any sports shoe, shoes for cheerleaders are designed to be comfortable and secure on your foot and ensure that you perform to your maximum. Depending on the level achieved the shoe may be more padded, shock absorbent or flexible than shoes made for other sports.

Nfinity Cheer Shoes

Beginners’ shoes tend to be heavier with a thicker sole, whilst shoes for flyers (those that get thrown in the air to twist and somersault) have a glove like fit and are extremely lightweight. But, whatever you do, don’t buy a white thick soled fashion shoes or a thin dance shoe, like a jazz shoes, these are not suitable for the rigours of cheerleading.

Cheer shoes with Colour Inserts

Not only are shoes for cheerleaders designed to help keep you safe - cheerleading trainers look great and can often be matched to your uniform. Some styles come with color inserts (Tumble and Cheerful) so you can match your shoes to the uniform worn.

Kaepa Cheer Shoes

Good quality cheer shoes will last a season and beyond - even if they are worn for both practice nights and regular competitions.

Why are cheer shoes white?

Cheer shoes are white because this colour stands out well against the floor or mat colour cheerleaders practice or compete on, and coaches and judges can easily see if the squad is synchronised or if, during exercises and practice, the cheerleader’s feet are in the correct position.

White cheer shoes also tend to match the white flashes of colour in cheer uniforms and make a pleasing match. 99% of all cheer shoes are white!

What size cheer shoes should I get?

Living Cheer stocks three brands of shoes, Kaepa Cheer shoes, Zephz Cheer trainers and Nfinity cheer shoes. Both Kaepa and Zephz fit true to size. Whilst Nfinity come up slightly small and we recommend ordering a half-a-size larger than your normal street shoe size.

If you are ordering a beginners shoe you can order half a size larger if you want some growing room. Once cheerleaders are at an intermediate or advanced stage the shoes should fit to size as you don’t want any feeling of them being loose in any way as you flip and tumble across the mat or floor. If you’re a flyer you want a shoe that is glove like in its fit and slightly tight.

Where to buy cheer shoes

The club your daughter cheers at might recommend the brand or style that they would like worn to their club practices, or may just leave it to you to choose which cheer shoes to wear.

Living Cheer stock all of the major cheer shoe brands and the most popular styles, and we’re more than happy to give further information on the fit, styles available and delivery. Remember, we will always exchange or refund any shoe that does not fit, so you can buy with confidence.
